Job Description:
· Prepares design/specification/quotations, invitation to tenders, and tender evaluation statements for civil construction projects. Arranges for orders to implement minor alteration to existing sites as per Admin Capital and Operating Budget items
· Reviews the drawings and designs for new projects and proposes changes as required along with appropriate comments/justifications
· Carries-out acceptance inspection work related to the preliminary and final “handing-over” of various civil projects
· Verifies Contractors’ invoices and endorses to authorized personnel for approval
· Prepares and submits regular reports such as progress/status reports/briefs pertaining to various sites in order to provide required Management information
· Coordinates effectively with local government agencies for processing building permits/clearances for projects undertaken by the Region
· Carries out site inspection frequently in order to verify the quality of construction, check the work practices as well to assess and follow up on the quality of supervision provided by consultants. Reports and reviews issues/concerns with superior on regular basis
· Liaises with the concerned departments on the comments/approval/modification of drawings/design prepared by Consultants; follows up with and supports HO in order to ensure that the design, specifications and scope of work cover the requirements of the Region.
· Follows up the rectification of snags and identifies issues that need to be rectified during the maintenance period. Liaises with HO and contractors on snag rectification
· Arranges to segregate the as-built drawings and manuals to concerned sections, reviews with the sections, and follows up with HO on the comments/observations of the Region
· Reviews all civil as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, maintenance schedules, supplier details etc. for new projects. Prepares, updates and maintains database and generates reports to superiors for follow-up
· Supervises, reviews & monitors the installation & testing of Telecom Power Plants and Systems to ensure compliance with technical specifications & design guidelines
· Plans, oversees, implements and monitors a comprehensive maintenance schedule to ensure continuity and smooth flow of repairs/modifications of all assigned sites/ buildings as per requirements of the Region and in compliance with Building Maintenance standards
· Supervises and motivates staff to ensure an acceptable level of performance Acceptance Certification purpose
· Keeps updated of new technology, systems and developments in specific area of specialization in order to introduce required work improvements
· Participates in the preparation of annual budgets pertaining to capital works, administrative capital items, operations and manpower to ensure continuity and smooth flow of work operations
· Participates in establishing the Section’s maintenance & operational strategies & guidelines in alignment with the Region’s policies
· Interfaces effectively with personnel from both within and outside the Unit such as other Engineering Sections, other departments and accredited building Consultants/Contractors as required
· Performs the performance appraisal of subordinates and provides guidance for enhancement of competencies
· Undertakes full responsibility of all equipment in his/her area
