Senior Accountant, Treasury

Job summary 
This position is responsible for applying accounting principles and procedures in capturing accurate and timely financial data and transactions, ensuring appropriate accounting Control. In addition, all accountants will eventually rotate across all functional departments in the Controller’s Office.

Primary duties and responsibilities 
Performs monthly and quarterly Balance Sheet Accounts reconciliations by comparing ERP system reports and source repots identifying all variances and reconciling items.
Analyzes and resolves reconciling differences as required by each functional department in accordance with CCAD policies and procedures guidelines.
Prepares financial entries related to assigned functional department, ensuring that department goals and outcomes are met in a timely and accurate manner.
Understands the balance sheet and P/L impact of account activity including classifications of financial statement line items
Develops reports and analyses that convey complex facts simply and support decision-making in the business
Contributes to month-end close process to ensure timely, accurate financial data that is in compliance with IFRS and company accounting policies
Identifies ways to improve productivity and data quality and assist in preparing business and process flow documentations.
Participates in regulatory compliance testing
Provides Accounting guidance and support to the different business units.
Supervises the work of accounting and clerical employees engaged in accounting functions.
Researches and resolves accounting problems as needed.
Reviews and analyzes statistical and financial information.
Participate in special projects as assigned

Skills

Experience requirements

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting is required
Experience with accounting systems and developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
Strong analytical and interpretative skills
Proficient in the use of pcs, spreadsheets and other software applications
Must be an independent worker and OK with minimal supervision
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to speak and write in English is required
Health care industry experience is preferred

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, is required
Master’s degree in Business Administration, or related field, is preferred
