Estimation Engineer-Civil | Emirates Electrical Eng. (1300) - United Arab Emirates



Job Purpose
The incumbent will study, research, analyses, quantify Civil scope of works associated with substations, cables and OHL tenders.   He should demonstrate skills to compile civil estimate by taking into consideration all the technical, commercial and regional aspects and succeed in the tender process in order to secure profitable business for the company



Key job responsibilities

Tendering and Offer Evaluation
  • Study tender document and bring out tender details related to scope of work, areas of concern, tender conditions, etc.
  • Make site visits to inspect areas of concern and address the issues suitably in bid estimate.
  • Preparing Pre Bid clarification regarding discrepancies related to tender documents.
  • Prepare and validate detailed civil BOQ, MTO, vendor RFQ.
  • Review and analysis of various technical and commercial offers from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Respond to vendor queries.
  • Coordinate with design and project team for preparing substation layout drawings and other related civil drawings.
  • Incumbent must be able to independently access the quantities from the drawings and shall be able to prepare cost estimate.
  • Support Lead Estimation Engineer in preparing price schedule
  • Prepare tender technical schedules in coordination with Lead Estimation Engineer.
Costing Activities
  • Review and validate techno-commercial data uploaded in the BMS.
  • Prepare civil job cost estimate of the project.
  • Prepare preliminary civil basis of offer based on bid estimate.
        Post Bid Activities
  • Preparing replies for post bid tender technical clarification.
  • Support projects with cost implications in case of contract variations.                                                  
 Qualification and Experience Required
  • Academic Qualification/s
  • Bachelors in Engineering from an accredited college or diploma in the relevant field.
  • Civil Engineering would be preferred.


Work Experience
  • Minimum 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in the industry out of which minimum 3 to 4 years in electrical substations.
Functional Skills/knowledge required
  • In- depth knowledge of concept, practices and procedures with ability to use in varied situations.
  • General knowledge of substation, cabling and OHL equipment.
  • Quantities and estimation systems.
  • Knowledge of Construction management software or similar skills.
