Drydocks World – Dubai lays a lot of emphasis on training and development of employees. The training department organises internal and external training at all levels from basic cross trade training for unskilled workers to specialist management training abroad. Trade enhancement training, to improve and develop the skills of established tradesmen, runs continuously. Special modules are developed for the operation of new equipment and to familiarise employees with new techniques and practices.
‘Tool box talks’ are an important element of ongoing training. The various safety and quality requirements of the job are discussed before any work is started to ensure the task is carried out safely, to the required standard and to the customer’s specification.
